The new delivery from Nicolas Maillart has just arrived, been tasted—and found to be excellent. What Nicolas has built up with his small sparkling wine house in Champagne is impressive. So impressive, in fact, that even renowned wine publications have taken notice and rate his Platine higher than many of the Grands Marques—those large champagne houses with their enormous production volumes and marketing budgets.

Nicolas, however, remains true to himself and continues to do his own thing. Platine is based on Pinot Noir and is blended with Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier from Premier Cru vineyards in Champagne. The base wine matures for a long time in used barriques before being fermented in the bottle and then stored on the lees for several years.

Despite this enormous effort, Platine remains more affordable than many products from the big houses – and impresses not only with its quality alone, but also with its outstanding price-pleasure ratio.

Platine has a fine mousse. It smells of ripe apple, yeast pastries, and lemon zest. On the palate, it is intense, straightforward, and creamy with an invigorating finish.
