There are wine styles that are celebrated all over the world—and others that enjoy cult status in their homeland but have never made it onto the big international stage. In Savoie, every child knows the Altesse grape variety and knows that it produces great wines. However, if you ask a sommelier in Berlin or a wine expert in New York about it, you will often be met with a questioning look.

Yet Altesse deserves much more attention. Its wines are full of character, with delicate herbal notes, complex texture, and exactly the freshness that is so sought after today. Matthieu from Domaine de Chevillard produces one of the best Altesse wines in the region – precise, expressive, and with great finesse. Unfortunately, as is so often the case, quantities are limited. So be quick before it's all gone again.

On the nose, ripe apple, juicy orange, and a hint of green tea. Intense and grippy on the palate, with moderate alcohol and a long, refreshing finish.
