It’s not just in Bordeaux—where, fortunately, the catastrophic fires seem to be under control—that people are currently longing for a little relief. All of Europe is suffering under the heat wave of the past few weeks, and the weather conditions are unlikely to change significantly in the near future. We can’t control the weather—but we can control what we drink these days. And I have just the right wine for you.
Sauvignon Blanc is closely associated with the Bordeaux region and is the most important white grape variety there. At Château Carbonneau, it plays an even greater role because the Franc de Ferrière family, with their New Zealand roots, has experienced firsthand the potential this grape variety holds in its homeland, on the other side of the globe. The single-varietal Sauvignon Blanc Margot combines exotic fruit with great freshness. To achieve this, the grapes are harvested early in the morning and fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks.
