2023 Graveirette Julien Mus Ju de Vie
The wine is fruit-forward and lively, with aromas of ripe cherries, plums, and blackberries. On the palate, the Ju de Vie is juicy, invigorating, and crisp, with firm tannins and good balance.

As you know, grape juice was served as the blood of Christ, and the French Eau de Vie, the Gaelic Uisce Beatha (also known as whiskey), and the scandinavian Akvavit were all named “water of life.” Julien Mus reflected on this in the Vaucluse region of southern France before setting out to produce this wine.
Normally, Julien produces rich Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines that can age for a long time, but the Ju de Vie—loosely translated as “juice of life”— was intended to offer different qualities. He wanted to produce a fresh and fruit-forward red wine. That’s why this cuvée, made from Grenache, Marselan, Merlot, and Mourvèdre, is harvested a bit earlier and then aged in concrete tanks. Like the estate’s other wines, it undergoes spontaneous fermentation and is also certified organic. So for a modest price, you get an authentic Southern French wine full of fruit and power, perfect for toasting to life.
