There are many reasons why the borders of the world's most famous vineyards run the way they do. As a rule, these boundaries are drawn based on soil formations and the orientation of the vineyards. Sometimes, however, it is a purely political decision, and the sites are delimited by who has the most say or who shouts the loudest.

The "Les Champauvins" vineyard was likely excluded from the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation simply because a small path separates it from the vineyards of the famous AOC. Yet, the soil, vines, and climate are identical.

This means you get Châteauneuf-du-Pape quality at a Côtes-du-Rhône price, offering exceptional value for money. The cuvée consists mostly of Grenache, blended with Syrah and Mourvèdre. The wine is partly aged in used barriques, but mainly in concrete tanks to preserve its fresh fruit character.

The wine aromas reveal ripe raspberries, blackberries, and pepper. On the palate, the Champauvins is powerful and intense, with ripe, supple tannins and a long finish.
