2022 Richard Rottiers Moulin à Vent
2022 Richard Rottiers Moulin à Vent
The wine has a rich aroma of ripe cherries and fresh blackberries. On the palate, it is juicy and supple with fine tannins and a refreshing finish.

In my school days, straight-A students were rarely the most popular classmates. Nevertheless, a few straight-A students performed admirably well (needless to say, I was not one of them). They didn't cram all day until the late hours, but partied through the night and still passed every exam with an A. If winemaking was taught in schools, Richard Rottiers would be one of those cool talents.
With his long curly hair, three-day beard, and tattered pants, Richard Rottiers is certainly not the nerdy type. However, he has worked his way to the top of the Beaujolais quality league in recent years with a lot of talent and a good hand. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate wrote “If you have not tasted Richard's wines before then do yourself a favor.” Capricious weather has made life difficult for him in recent years, but he did so well again with the 2022 vintage that I had to bring his wines to Baum Selection.
The Moulin à Vent comes from the Gamay parcels below the eponymous windmill and impresses with its clear fruit aromas.
