What has happened in Barbaresco over the past few decades is quite remarkable. This small region northeast of the truffle capital Alba went largely unnoticed for a long time. It was only 100 years ago that the village name Barbaresco first appeared on wine labels at all, and it took until the end of the 20th century for these wines to receive the recognition they deserved. Some celebrated Barbaresco wines now rank among Italy's most expensive. This one, however, is not among them.

Marco Rocca of La Ca Nova has stayed down to earth. The estate looks back on a long tradition and owns parcels in some of the region's finest vineyard sites. Yet his wines remain affordable while being of top quality. According to Italian wine expert Antonio Galloni, the 2022 vintage generally sees Barbaresco outshine its neighboring region, Barolo. La Ca Nova once again ranks among the top estates, with Marco Rocca's wines at the same time among the more affordable.

The wine offers aromas of strawberry, cherry, mint, licorice, and violet. On the palate it is rich and intense, with powerful tannins and a remarkably precise acid structure.
