2018 Arco Rubeo
2018 Arco Rubeo
The Rubeo opens with aromas of ripe plums, raisins and crème de cassis, accompanied by delicate notes of tobacco and pepper. On the palate it is powerful and intense, with ripe tannins and a very long finish.

"Johnny's in the basement mixing up the medicine, I'm on the pavement thinking about the government …" This line comes from the pen of the greatest musician of all time – Bob Dylan. He strings words together in an unfamiliar order and tells stories that don't always make sense, yet always sweep me along. His voice is not melodic, but it is real, and the raw rasp lends his lyrics gravity.
Luca Fedrigo of Arco strings grape varieties together in an unfamiliar way, creating wines that carry you away. His Rubeo is a blend of the Bordeaux varieties Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, combined with the Amarone varieties Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara. After harvest, the grapes are dried for 60 days, after which the wine is aged for years in large oak barrels. The result is a wine that unites richness with depth and complexity. Its weight is perceptible as you swirl the glass, and the blend of regional and international grape varieties invites reflection. At Vinous, the wine is described as: "The 2018 Rubeo is a savory beast, with a burst of smoke and crushed rocks giving way to white pepper-tinged black cherries and wild herbs."
