While the rain is pounding against the windows and the cold is creeping through the cracks in the door, I am preparing for Friday evening. In a few hours the fireplace will be fired up, the blanket pulled out and then there will be the right wine to warm you up. You guessed it... this wine is what it's all about today.

The Rubeo from the Arco winery is pressed at the gates of Verona. But the busy winemaker Luca has come up with something very special for the Rubeo. Instead of just relying on the "Amarone varieties" Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot also play an important role in the cuvée. The answer from Veneto to the Super Tuscans is made in a similar way to an Amarone, because the grapes are dried before fermentation to concentrate the aromas and body. The result is a multi-layered red wine that can keep up with the best Amarone in terms of richness and strength and brings sunshine to the dullest winter evenings.

The Rubeo smells of blueberries, cranberries and figs. There are also aromas of cinnamon and cigar box. On the palate it is extremely rich and intense with ripe tannins and lots of power, fruit and fullness. The finish lingers for a long time.
